    RFK and the Israel Lobby

    Israel, RFK, United States

The Israel lobby’s fundraising capabilities started off small, but eventually became significant. As Grant F. Smith documented, “Between 1921 and 1930, Zionist organizations active in the United States collected approximately $15 million in contributions from the public. Between 1931 and 1940, this amount only rose to $25 million, but in the period from 1941 to 1948, the amount suddenly ballooned to $287 million.”[1] This major increase in cash was the result of the work of the United Jewish Appeal (UJA) founded in 1939. Thanks to the work of Zionist organizations, “Between 1951 and 1960, approximately $18 million of United Jewish…

    The Catholic Definition of Antisemitism

    Catholicism, Israel

The definition of antisemitism is rather vague. The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance defines antisemitism as the following: “Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.”[1] “A certain perception of Jews” seems to be purposefully vague, and I would surmise is done so for political purposes. I think Joe Sobran was correct when he said, “an anti-Semite used to mean a man who hated Jews. Now it means a man who…

    The Franklin Scandal DEBUNKED

    United States

The Franklin Community Federal Credit Union was a bank that failed while managed by Lawrence E. King, Jr. During his tenure he embezzled $39 million. The Franklin Legislative Committee was established to investigate the workings of the bank and why it failed. However, it veered off into investigating allegations of child sexual abuse, child pornography, murder, and satanism. Largely as a response to the Committee getting off track looking into these claims, the Douglas County Grand Jury was convened to get to the bottom of these claims. The Grand Jury came to the conclusion that the claims of a child…

Text of Douglas County Grand Jury Investigation

    United States

The Douglas County Grand Jury was impaneled on March 19, 1990. The grand jury was called and charged to look into the illegal activity surrounding the closure of the Franklin Community Federal Credit Union, its members, officers, employees, and particularly the individual who headed that organization, Lawrence E. King, Jr. We considered the financial operation of Franklin and the shortage of approximately $40 million. However, since the Federal Grand Jury has considered those issues for nearly two years, and has already issued indictments, and since the National Credit Union Association reconstruction team has labored over 10,600 hours, we decided not…

The Hypocrisy of Ben Shapiro on Radical Muslims

    Islam, Israel, United States

In 2011, Ben Shapiro produced a video titled “The Myth of the Tiny Radical Muslim Minority.” The purpose of this video is deceptive. There is nothing incorrect about saying that many Muslims throughout the world hold radical views. The problem is that Ben portrays radical beliefs as something unique to Muslims, or at least to a level more extreme than can be found among other nations or religions. He makes this point clear in the beginning of the video: There’s plenty of violent material in the Old and New Testaments. Hey, I’m an Orthodox Jew, I read the Old Testament…

Eastern Saints on Mary’s Immaculate Conception

    Catholicism, Eastern Orthodox

Ephrem (306-379) “Mary and Eve, two people without guilt, two simple people, wereidentical. Later, however, one became the cause of our death, theother the cause of our life.” “Thou and thy mother are the only ones who are totally beautiful in every respect; for in thee, O Lord, there is no spot, and in thy Mother no stain.”[1] Romanos the Melodist (sixth century) “Then the tribes of Israel heard that Anne had conceived the immaculate [female] (éteken Ánna tên áchranton). So everyone took part in the rejoicing. Joachim gave a banquet, and great was the merriment in the garden. He…

Christopher West on Submission of Wives to Their Husbands

    Catholicism

Regarding Ephesians 5:22 (Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord), Christopher West has written: If it makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up, I want to affirm your response. Why? Because you probably think the passage means something like: “Wives are doormats who must surrender to their husbands’ domination.” If that’s what you think it means, then I’d be concerned if it didn’t make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Nevertheless, that’s not what the verse means. When we look at this verse in the context of the whole…

New Book: Jewish Business Practices: Sketches from Contemporary Social Life

    Catholicism, Economics, Israel

“The social question is the center of all contemporary endeavors. But we consider Jewish business practices to be the real core of the social question.” So Georg Ratzinger begins his book Jewish Business Practices. An indictment of immoral business activities practiced by Jews, Ratzinger, the great-uncle of Pope Benedict XVI, gets to the core of the conflict between Jews and Christians in the nineteenth century. While condemning anti-Semitism, Ratzinger explains Jewish behavior to be rooted in the rejection of Christ. Benedict described his great-uncle as someone who because of his “achievements and his political standing also made everyone proud of him.”…
